Long Term Player Development

The Welland Soccer Club is committed to developing young soccer players through a step-by step approach that prioritizes skill development and the cultivation of important soft skills like  teamwork, communication, hard work, and respect. Our soccer training curriculum is designed  to help players of all skill levels improve and reach their full potential.

In addition to our focus on player development, we strive to create a welcoming and supportive  “Community Club” atmosphere. Through a variety of engaging activities, we aim to support and  encourage our teams while also giving back to the broader community through outreach  programs with our players.

As part of our commitment to delivering effective and age-appropriate training, we align  ourselves with the Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) pathway. We design our programs  to ensure that they are tailored to the needs of each player and that they are delivered in a way  that is engaging, fun, and supportive.

If you want to learn more about our approach to player development, please check out  the LTPD Community Guide on the Canada Soccer website. We believe that by combining a  focus on skill development with a supportive and welcoming community atmosphere, we can  help our players grow both on and off the field.

Grassroots Standards

The Welland Soccer Club’s playing formats align with both the Ontario Soccer Grassroots Standards and Canada  Soccer Grassroots Standards for the number of players on the field, size of the ball, goals, field size, length of  the game, and coach-to-player ratio at minimum.
