At Welland Soccer Club, we stand firm on the foundation of “Fair Play,” which encompasses five basic principles:

1. Respect the Rules: Understanding and adhering to the game’s rules.
2. Respect the Officials and Their Decisions: Acknowledging the officials’ roles and accepting their decisions graciously.
3. Respect the Opponents: Valuing your adversaries and acknowledging their efforts.
4. Equal Opportunity for Participation: Ensuring all players, regardless of skill level, receive equal time on the field.
5. Maintain Self-Control: You are a role model; your behavior sets a standard for your team.

Your Role as a House League Coach

As a vital part of our community, you’ll have the responsibility to:

1. Model Sportsmanship: Demonstrate respect for officials, players, and opposing teams.
2. Ensure Equal Playtime: Facilitate an inclusive environment where all players are valued equally.
3. Uphold the Integrity of the Game: Approach officials with respect and seek clarity on game rules in a dignified manner.
4. Focus on Enjoyable Competition: Implement strategies to keep the game enjoyable for all, avoiding lopsided scores.
5. Foster a Fun Atmosphere: Encourage a love for the game, emphasizing enjoyment over competition.
6. Adhere to the ‘Rule of Two’: Ensure all interactions with players are within view and earshot of another adult, prioritizing player safety.
